Castle in the Sky

Sheeta, a girl who has been abducted by government agent Muska, is attacked by Captain Dola and her air pirate sons who are in search of Sheeta's crystal amulet. Due to the resulting struggle, Sheeta falls from the airship, but as she falls, she was falling down slowly by the mysterious power within the amulet. She safely lands in a small mining town and was discovered by a boy named Pazu, who takes her into his home to recover. Pazu tells her of a mysteriousfloating island named Laputa, which is visible in a picture taken by his father. They decided to explore to Laputa and discover the purpose of the crystal amulet. During their adventure, they encounter enemies and meaning of Sheeta and her amulet.

It begins at Sannomiya Station after World War II in 1945, with a janitor cleaning and throwing a candy tin, which contained a little girl spirit name Setsuko. There was also a group of fireflies that represented Setsuko's brother, Seita. They begin to narrate the flashback of what has happened to them during World War II. During World War II, Seita and Setsuko travel through the loss of families, hunger, and death. They faced the difficulties of living when they their aunt and worried about their relatives.

My Neighbor Totoro

In 1958 Japan, university professor named Tatsuo Kusakabe and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, move into an old house that was close to the hospital where the girls' mother, Yasuko, is recovering from a long-term illness. One day, Mei sees two rabbit-like ears in the grass and follows the ears under the house. She discovers two small spirits who lead her through a patch and into the hollow tree. She soon saw a larger version of the same kind of spirit, which identifies itself by a series of roars that she interprets as "Totoro" and befriends it. Once meeting Totoro, she falls asleep in top of Totoro's stomache. But when Satsuki finds her, she is on the ground. Mei wanted to prove Totoro was real, but no one believed her. Even so, Tatsuo comforts Mei, telling her that Totoro will appear when it wants to. Then, on rainy day, both of them met Totoro and its friends again and started their adventure.

A 13-year-old witch name Kiki and her companion Jiji, a black cat, had to leave home for a year on the night of a full moon to pursue her skill through training as a tradition. She flies on her broomstick to the port city of Koriko. While trying to find somewhere to live, Kiki is was found by Tombo, a geeky boy who admires her flying ability. Later on, Kiki helps the kind, pregnant owner of a bakery name Osono and opens a "Witch Delivery Business", delivering goods by broomstick. As she delievers packages, she discovers disasters and encounters losing her companion because of other friend. But soon she fights through those disasters and found a happy ending, but new beginning.

Only Yesterday

In 1982, a unmarried 27 year old lady name Taeko lived her whole life in Tokyo and works at a company there. She decides to take a trip to visit the family's elder brother of her brother-in-law in the rural countryside to help with the safflower harvest and get away from city life. As she travels at night on a sleeper train to Yamagata, she begins to recall memories of herself as a schoolgirl in 1966, and intensed her desire to go on holidays outside the big city like her classmates. Once she reached Yamagata. she is surprised to find out that her brother in law's second cousin Toshio, whom she barely knows, is the one who came to pick her up. During her stay, she finds herself increasingly nostalgic for her childhood self, while wrestling with adult issues of career and love. The trip brings up forgotten memories of her first stirrings of childish romance, puberty and growing up, and the frustrations of math and boys. Between the present and the past, Taeko wonders if she has been true to the dreams of her childhood self. But, she begins to realize that Toshio has helped her along the way. Later on in the story, Taeko faces her own past and present self on how she views the world and the people around her. Soon, Taeko chooses to stay in the countryside instead of returning to Tokyo after learning her values.

Porco Rosso

Porco Rosso, a veteran World War I fighter ace and freelance bounty hunter, headed over to an attack on a ferry liner by airborne pirates. Having successfully defeated the airborne pirates, Porco treats himself to a good dinner at the Hotel Adriano, which is run by his long-time friend Gina. At the restaurant of the hotel the heads of the pirate gangs are contracting Curtis, an arrogant and ambitious American ace, to assist them in their next attacks. But Curtis falls in love with Gina and is frustrated to see his declarations rebuffed and her affection for Porco. After successfully executing a pirating mission, Curtis tracks down Porco, who is flying to Milan to have his plane serviced, and shoots him down as he experiences an engine outage, claiming to have killed him. But, Porco actually survives, but the airframe of his plane has been destroyed and the fuselage is heavily damaged. Porco continues the trip by train with the remains of the plane, much to the irritation of Gina, already worried about his having been shot down. Porco Rooso travels to fix his plane and met a girl name Fio, which soon after the plane was fixed, she went along with him. Once Porco met Curtis once again they were in a fight which depended on the marriage of Gina. But soon, the duel was canceled and everyone lived a happy life.

The story begins in late 1960s Japan. A group of tanuki are threatened by a gigantic suburban development project called New Tama, in the Tama Hills on the outskirts of Tokyo. The development is cutting into the forest and dividing the tanukis' land. The story soon resumes in early 1990s Japan, during the early years of the Heisei era. With limited living space and food decreasing every year, the tanuki begin fighting among themselves for the resources, but at the urging of the matriarch Oroku (Old Fireball), they decide to unify to stop the development.

A 14-year old girl name Shizuku Tsukishima is a student from Mukaihara Junior High School, where she is best friends with Yuko Harada. Shizuku is a bookworm and loves to read books. One day, entering the library, she was looking for books, but the books she wanted was already checked out by a person name Seiji Amasawa. Later in the story, Shizuku encounter a boy, who was soon revealed as Seiji. Then, when Shizuku encounters a cat in the train, she also encounters an antique shop, where she started taking her future writing career seriously. But because of her dedication of becoming a writer, she is always eating snacks, staying up late at night, and her grades were dropping. But once completing story, she soon learn her values and encounters Seiji once again.

Princess Mononoke

>In Muromachi Japan, an Emishi village is attacked by a demon. The last Emishi prince, Ashitaka, kills it before it reaches the village, but its corruption curses his arm in the combat. The curse gives his arm superhuman strength, but will eventually kill him. The villagers discover that the demon was a boar god, Nago, corrupted by an iron ball lodged in his body. The village's wise woman tells Ashitaka that he may find a cure in the western lands Nago came from but he cannot return to his homeland. During his trip to find a cure, he encounter a girl name San who was taken cared by the wolves. San firsted considered Ashitaka as a enemy, but soon befriends him after saving her and telling her that she is beautiful. They also encounter the forest spirit that soons lift the curse from Ashitaka.

My Neighbors the Yamadas

This comedy movie is a series of films that follows the daily life of the Yamada family. Takashi and Matsuko, the father and mother, has 13-year old son name Noboru, a 5-year old daughter name Nonoko, a dog name Pochi, and Matsuko's mother, Shige. The movie expresses the cultural ways of their living and advices that they give one another in humorous ways.

Ten-year-old girl Chihiro Ogino and her parents are traveling to their new home when her father tries to find a short cut and takes a wrong turn. They unknowingly enter a magical world that Chihiro's father insists on exploring. While Chihiro's parents eat like pigs at an empty restaurant stall, Chihiro finds an exquisite bathhouse and meets a young boy named Haku who warns her to return across the river before sunset. However, Chihiro discovers that her parents have turned into pigs and she is unable to cross the flooded river, becoming trapped in the spirit world. During her time in the spirit world, she had to work at the bathhouse to achieve the cure for her parents. But during her job, she encounters a spirit name No-Face who is kind to Chihiro and grandma name Yubaba who tries to keep Chihiro in the spirit world.

The Cat Returns

The story is of a girl named Haru, a quiet and shy high school student who has a suppressed ability to talk with cats. One day, she saves a dark blue cat from being hit by a truck on a busy road. The cat is Lune, Prince of the Cat Kingdom. As thanks, the cats give Haru gifts of catnip and mice, and she is offered the Prince's hand in marriage. Her mixed reply is taken as a yes. This story takes place in Shizuku's story of the Cat Kingdom of the time Haru entered the world of the Cat Kingdom and was treated with loyalty. She tries to find a way to go back to the human world and encounters danger and the cat prince, Lune.

Sophie, a young milliner, encounters a wizard named Howl on her way to visit her sister Lettie. Upon returning, she meets the Witch of the Waste, who transforms her into a ninety-year-old woman. Seeking to break the curse, Sophie leaves home and sets off through the country. She meets a scarecrow, whom she decides to call "Turnip Head" and leads her to Howl's moving castle, where she meets Howl's young apprentice, Markl, and the fire-demon Calcifer, who is the source of the castle's energy and magic. When Howl appears, Sophie announces that Calcifer let her in, and she has hired herself as a cleaning lady for the house. Meanwhile, Sophie's country was in war that forces Howl to be part of it. They encountered Suliman who tries to trap Howl and the difficulties of the war and the past.

The Tale Of Princess Kaguya

A bamboo cutter named Sanuki no Miyatsuko discovers a miniature girl inside a glowing bamboo shoot. Believing her to be a divine presence, he and his wife decided to raise her as their own, calling her "Princess". The girl grows rapidly and conspicuously, marveling her parents and earning her the nickname "Takenoko" (Little Bamboo) from the other village children. Sutemaru, the oldest among Kaguya's friends, develops a close relationship with her. One day they had a ceremony for Takenoko to celebrate her name Kaguya. During the celebration and heard that she is part of the royal family based on her outfit and gold. So she ran away to escape from becoming the "princess." When she escaped, she experience the postive and negative parts of her beauty and discovers her powers of the Moon along with her friend, Miyatsuko.

When Marnie Was There

Anna Sasaki is a 12-year-old girl living in Sapporo with foster parents, Yoriko and her husband. Anna is distant and unhappy with them because she figures out that they receive money from the government to take care of her. Anna also does not express her feelings, leaving her foster parents worried by her behaviour. One day at school, she collapses from an asthma attack and her parents send her to spend the summer with Setsu and Kiyomasa Oiwa, relatives of Yoriko, at a seaside town where the air is clear, located between Kushiro and Nemuro. Once Anna reached the seaside, she sees an abandoned mansion, across a salt marsh and wades across the marsh to investigate it. She looks around, wondering why it seems so familiar to her, but gets trapped there by the rising tide. Toichi, a taciturn old fisherman, brings her back to the pier with his rowboat, and Anna sees the house for a moment in good repair and well-lit. When she returns to the Oiwa's, Setsu tells her that the mansion used to be a vacation home for some foreigners, but that it has been empty for a long time. Starting that night, Anna has dreams of seeing a blonde girl in the mansion, having her hair brushed by an old woman. Anna started seeing a girl who blonde hair from the mansion and started to befriend her. She experiences friendship and adventure along with Marnie.
